Laundry

Did you Know? Have you ever had the clothes that you washed come out with what looks like rust stains? It is possible and likely that the chlorine in the bleach caused the iron in the water to LEACH out . (Very normal in areas with hard water, old pipes filled with rust are also partly in blame) To remedy this, soak the stains with EQUAL parts of lemon juice and water, and then wash the clothes again, LEAVE OUT THE BLEACH. Keep in mind that many detergents contain bleach as a convenient additive, but as you can see it is not all that convenient if you have hard water. NOTE: soak and wash garments before you dry the garment

Fungus

- Artillery Fungus Cleaning - The black tar-like substance produced by the spores of this fungus have been giving East Coast homeowners trouble for years. - We suggest a 20-1 ratio, tested in an inconspicuous area, and increasing ratio as necessary. (Never use full strength without testing)

Insect Issues

1. Mix your citrus rinds with half a bottle of beer, half a pack of yeast, and a quart of warm water. Let it ferment for two days, place it in a shallow pan and then set the pan in your garden. Snails and slugs will either drink themselves to death or drown.

2. Orange and lemon peels scattered around in the garden will keep dogs and cats out.

3. Orange peels are toxic to ants. Put some ground up orange peels on the top of an ant mound and cover ...bye bye ants.

4. Feed your birds by filling up empty orange and grapefruit half's with a mixture of birdseed and suet: then hang it by a string in the tree, or just tack it to the tree.
